PennWest University held a college and career fair for students that are trying to figure out what their next steps will be. There were over sixty different colleges and career schools for students. There were multiple local high schools that attended the college fair. Some of the high schools that attended the college fair included schools from Washington, Greene, and Fayette counties.

Some of the colleges that were present were West Virgina University, Robert Morris University, University of Pittsburgh, Kent State University, University of Akron, Carlow University, Fairmont State University, of course Pennsylvania Western University, and more. There were also multiple career schools there such as The Cosmetology Academy-Douglas Education Center, Laurel Business Institue, Army recruiters, and more. All of these schools had people present to represent their school and tell the students a little more about the school. All of the schools had lovely and helpful representatives.

The college and career fair was a great way for seniors to get more information on schools that they are interested in. It is also great for students to be able to talk to people from schools in person and get to ask them questions. The students got so much information, so many questions answered, and it opened their eyes to how many possibilities there are for their future. We spoke with Uniontown Area High School student Jayla Winfrey and she said, “It helped me realize how many good local colleges there is in the surrounding areas.” Akira Dade also said, “The college fair allowed me to see what different schools offered for the majors that I want to study.” As you can see the college and career fair greatly helped and encouraged our UHS students about college. Good luck students on whatever path you take and we hope you had a great time at the college fair.
